Your office job can put a strain on an already hurting neck. Here are some tips for getting by at work:
- Look down with your eyes while working at your desk instead of bending your neck.
- If you have to read at your desk, place your papers on a book so you don’t have to look down as far.
- Keep your head level by adjusting the monitor height of your computer so your neck is not flexed. If you don’t have an adjustable monitor, elevate your monitor with a book.
- Every so often, exercise and stretch your neck by tilting it and rotating it. You can even add resistance by using your hand.
- Extend your head backwards every so often.
- Every 20 or 30 minutes stand up.
- When standing, lean against the wall and push against the wall with your hands to exercise your upper back muscles.
- Avoid excessive texting. Most people will strain their neck by bending it for long periods while texting.
